The night should be for dancing, celebrating, and feeling free. But for many women and girls, safety isn’t a given. That’s why the 'Ik eis de nacht op' movement began and why TicketSwap is proud to support it.

About the movement

After the tragic murder of 17-year-old Lisa, actress and writer Nienke ’s Gravemade shared words that resonated across the country:

'Ik eis de nacht op. Ik eis de straten op. Ik eis dat meisjes van 17 veilig thuiskomen.'

Translated: 'I demand the night. I demand the streets. I demand that 17-year-old girls come home safely.'

Her message struck a chord and sparked a movement calling for safer nights and safer streets, so women and girls can enjoy nightlife without fear.

A city coming together

One week after Lisa’s death, Amsterdam’s nightlife community will unite to raise awareness about violence against women and girls. At 22:30 tonight, several clubs in the city will project messages from Nienke ’s Gravemade’s column in orange onto their facades, while the same song plays inside each venue with doors open to the streets.

The initiative, led by Night Mayor Freek Wallagh and the Amsterdam Club Consultation (OAC), extends beyond clubs. Public buildings will join in, and the A’DAM Tower will glow orange – the UN’s symbol of a future without violence against women and girls.

This campaign is about more than one tragedy. It’s a call to confront femicide, sexual violence, and harassment, and a reminder that creating safe nights for women and girls requires accountability and collective responsibility.

The clubs leading the way

From Paradiso to Het Sieraad, Lofi to Thuishaven, Amsterdam’s most iconic venues are uniting to honour the campaign. Here are just some of the venues lighting up in solidarity tonight:

Bitterzoet • Bret • Chicago Social Club • Chin Chin Club • Club Up • De Garage Noord • Doka • Levenslang • Lofi • The Loft • Melkweg • Nachbar • NYX • Oliva • Radion • Panama • Paradiso • Radio Radio • Het Sieraad • Shelter • Supperclub • Skatecafe • Thuishaven • IJland • WesterUnie & Westergas (Westweelde)

Why this matters to us

By supporting 'Ik eis de nacht op,' we join the call for a nightlife where women and girls can celebrate freely, without fear, and always come home safely.
