Mozart and Contemporary Music

An evening that bridges the musical genius of the past with contemporary works. The program features the overture to the opera Idomeneo and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s famous Symphony No. 40 in G minor — works brimming with drama, passion, and unmistakable melodic beauty.

The centerpiece of the program will be the world premiere of Petr Michalec’s Divertimento for Wind Trio and Strings, which offers a fresh musical language and a new perspective on the dialogue between wind instruments and a string orchestra.

Performed by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Martin Peschík. The evening’s soloists are clarinetists Petr Michalec and Kateřina Holeček Škardová, along with bassoonist Markéta Davidová.

The concert offers a unique opportunity to experience music that combines time-honored classics with the moment of a new composition’s birth.
